  1. What’s the difference between synthetic hair and human hair wigs?

Synthetic wigs are made of a man made base fiber, similar to plastic.  The benefits to synthetic hair pieces are the easy care and maintenance, the natural look and movement.  Synthetic wigs are about half the cost of human hair wigs.  However, being made of a synthetic fiber, extra care must be taken when around heat.  Any heat based styling products (such as blower dryers, irons, rollers, etc.) may not be used on synthetic wigs.

Human hair wigs are the most natural looking and feeling hair pieces.  They can also be styled and colored just as if it were your own hair.  Human hair wigs are cooler and lighter weight.

  1. What is a monofilament top?

The monofilament top refers to the top of the wig cap.  It is a translucent mesh that each hair is individually tied onto, creating a realistic scalp appearance.

  1. Do ladies who aren’t going through chemotherapy wear wigs and hair pieces?

Yes, absolutely!  Women of all ages, races, ethnicities battle with alopecia at all different degrees.  For some, wigs are necessary or just preferred.  For others, a clip in hair piece does the trick.

  1. How long after a chemotherapy treatment will I lose my hair?

It depends on the drugs given as well as the person, but generally 14 to 16 days after your first treatment.

  1. Will I loose my eyebrows and eyelashes?

Again, it depends, some do and some don’t.  The good news is they are the last to go and the first to come back, so hopefully it won’t be too long without them even if you do!  (A wig with longer bangs will camouflage this and help keep dirt and dust out of your eyes.)
