The story of Over My Head is deeply personal. While studying Textiles and Clothing at The Ohio State University, Bethany began creating stylish, functional designs for mastectomy patients. Her inspiration was her mother, Bonnie, who was diagnosed with breast cancer at 39 and underwent a bilateral mastectomy.
Watching her mother face cancer with strength and grace opened Bethany’s eyes to a powerful truth — women deserved better options, ones that honored both their beauty and their courage. That calling became her mission. On New Year’s Day 2007, Bethany carried that mission forward by purchasing Over My Head.
As the need grew, so did Over My Head. In 2012, the boutique moved into the OhioHealth Bing Cancer Center, expanding services to include mastectomy prostheses fittings. In 2021, a second location opened in the Dublin Cancer Center, continuing the vision of combining care, beauty, and empowerment under one roof.
From a small shop of headwear to a trusted partner in survivorship, Over My Head has always been about more than products — it’s about walking with people through the hardest chapters of their lives and helping them rediscover their strength and style along the way.
